Its like waiting for paint to dry..
As the paintings I’m working on haven't dried enough for a glaze I got on preparing a couple of new ones. I took a photograph whilst in Manchester on a very sunny day last year, it’s another image where the light shouted at me, 16x20". The last one I might not do yet, Stockport looking at The Nelson in the Snow background will be faded this is only 8x6" and won’t have much detail more of an impression. .

Painting of a painter painting in Piccadilly Train Station.
Work in Progress, last month I was in Manchester and was lucky enough to see this artist painting at Piccadilly Train Station so I quickly took a photograph. Apparently he was there for a few days painting, later that day I was told the artist was Rob Pointon you might want to look him up and check out his work..

WIP Shirley Baker Photograph Kids on Lamp Swing - Day 4..
Day 4 another day on this bloody painting I've changed a few things since yesterday however you might not even notice. The foreground pavement has been redone I wasn't happy with the flags, shadows been added, sky and chimney smoke and a few other bits. What I really need to do is let it dry and start on the figures and leave the buildings and background alone, I might actually get the painting done then, see what happens tomorrow if its dry enough.

WIP Shirley Baker Photograph Kids on Lamp Swing - Day 2 & 3.
Day 2 I started to add more detail however I wasn't happy with the bricks, they are whitewashed in the original but somehow they didn't feel right. I decided to try something different on day 3 I painted over the small advertising board and decided to add a large advertising billboard where the whitewashed wall was. I managed to find a few billboards and advertise from the UK in the mid 60s and choose to do a kid related billboard instead of a smoking advert. I spent a lot of time on the billboard it isn't finished yet its too wet Ill leave it to dry. Anyway Ill leave it for now and see what happens tomorrow.

WIP Shirley Baker Photograph Kids on Lamp Swing - Day 1.
I came across this photography by Shirley Baker from the 1960's I really liked the image and wanted to do it as a quick study. However I didn't manage to complete the painting due to over commitments of the day and I did take a little longer doing it. However that's all right as I enjoyed doing it, as long as I can complete the image tomorrow then I'm fine with it.

Another quick Sketch...
I was watching a documentary about an artist and there was this shot of a ship pulling in at Manchester Docks. There was something about I had to draw, maybe it was the red strip on the ship, this on was done in watercolour and ink.

Finished of some still life studies.
Below are a couple of still life studies of Bath toys these were actually started a couple of years ago but I have decided to finish them off. I haven't painted in 6 months and I now feel its time to get back into the swing of things. The plan is to finish a few of these paintings I have lying around and then get back to painting everyday. Anyway for know here's the two I've finished, the paintings are around A3 in size but are done on Acrylic paper.
